What: Stateline Goat Association annual symposium
Where: Waterford Public Library, 101 North River Street, Waterford, WI 53185
When: Saturday February 11, 2012
Time: Registration begins at 9:00 AM with symposium to begin at 9:30 AM. Runs until 2:30 PM. The library closes at 3:00 PM so we must be cleaned up and out by then.
Cost: $8.00 for an individual or $15.00 for a family
Potluck lunch, please bring a dish to pass.
Speakers and topics to include:
Dr. Clair Mikolayanas, UW-Madison Extension Small Ruminant Speicialist http://www.ansci.wisc.edu/facstaff/Faculty/pages/mikolayunas/index.html
Dr. Mikolayanas will be speaking about kid rearing and her current work with a kid-rearing trial at UW-Madison.
Dr. Donald Bliss, founder and owner of MidAmerica Ag Research http://www.midamericaagresearch.net/profile.php
Dr. Bliss will be speaking about goat parasites and treatment. As an offer to attendees of our symposium, Dr. Bliss has offered to do free fecal testing on goat samples that you send to him. He will bring the results with him to the symposium and discuss treatment plans. To take advantage of this offer, go to the MidAmerica Ag Research website and fill out the sample submission form and follow the instructions for collecting and submitting samples. The links to the web pages are below. In the comment section of the sample submission form, please write "sample for Stateline Goat Symposium". This will let them know that there is no charge and to bring the results to the symposium.

Livestock guard dogs
The Dabbs family will discuss livestock guard dogs. They raise goats and alpacas and raise Anatolian Shepherds as livestock guard dogs.
Pre and post kidding care of the doe and her kids
Vicky Tonn will discuss taking care of pregnant does prior to and after kidding. She will also discuss kidding and delivery problems and taking care of newly born kids.

Dr. Paul Dlugopolski DVM, Athens Vet Service will be speaking. Topics will include general care of goats, shots, worming, bloat, treating diarrhea and many other topics. There will be time for questions.

Demonstrations on clipping a goat for show and hoof trimming.
Lunch
The Randy Adamson Family, commercial dairy goat farmers, and long-time show exhibitors from Janesville, WI will conduct a showmanship clinic in the afternoon.
Lunch will be provided for paying participants!
(non paying participants are welcome to pay 2.50)
Pre-registration- $5.00 per person by March 15
Registration- $7.00 per person Day of Clinic
Clinic will be held at Loyal High School -Loyal, WI
