Nutrition and Feeding

One of the most important aspects of raising any animal is understanding its nutritional needs. Please explore the Goat Dairy Library for a great primer on feeding techniques, nutritional requirements by age, formulating rations and more.

Housing

One of the other most important things to read up on before you bring your first goat home is housing and fencing. Goats are notorious for escaping so you’ll probably have to invest some more time and money in your goat fencing than you have for other livestock you may have.

Before you bring your first goat home, take some time to visit as many other people you raise goats in your area as possible. this will give you a chance to see what works well for them (You’ll probably also receive a few tips about what NOT to do!)
